It started off with Janice’s idea to remix the “Red Hot Summer” photo collage by Nahil, Daniel, and Carol’s from the Photo Sequences challenge (from Week 2).
On Wednesday (08/05), it was a gloomy and cloudy day, which was perfect for the Remix! Nahil and Janice set off to take photos of the blue-toned sky outside the streets in Brooklyn, hoping it would rain soon, to capture a moment. We walked to Blicks Art Supplies (Nahil needed to get a foam board), we spotted blue buses, carts, art, and more, photographed along our journey of a “cool” (rainy) bluey summer day.
oh! and we even stopped to got ice cream cones to cool ourselves off (despite it looking almost rain like weather, it was very humid still)
Carrying a big foam board meant = hands occupied, and less photo-taking. Then it started to rain, so then we took the 4 train (subway) from Nevins St to Borough Hall (1 stop!). Just our luck, after the subway ride it stopped raining…..
However around sunset (8 PM), I (Janice) went outside quickly and was able to snap a few photos of the post-rain gloom (the outside table and the sky, bottom right corner!) 😅

I am really grateful for this class! Practicing to listen to what my hands wants to make.. practicing to be kind to myself when learning a new form/medium…practicing to make
My final project (and what I am showcasing for the semester show, on Wednesday!) Is a culmination of sooo many (new) forms that I learned because of this class!!!! Salvage Material (Material of the Arts!), Laser Cutting (learned from Project 01), 3D Printing (learned from Exploration 03), Wood Shop (learned from Project 01), Adobe Illustrator, things from my Curiosity Syllabus. All of these tools/machines/materials I would have not tried (if not for this class) that forced me to explore, fail, and try again.
These past few days (and nights!!!!!! and sleeping (rip)) on the IMA/ITP floor, every time I hit a wall, I remember to rely on those who know/or want to help (learned from Project 02) and moments when I was really struggling with a material/tool to give myself grace and patience :,))))))
