- When you think about your topic, what metaphors come to mind? What visuals?
i canāt think of any metaphors but lots of visuals. like hot air balloons, or inflatable whacky man outside stores. that one goodyear balloon ship that got deflated. oh macy thanksgiving parade! iām pretty sure some parade balloons have been deflated during the event which is funny (rip to the float, but also trees reclaiming their territory)
obvious party balloons!
a lot of things are inflated like bouncy castles, life jackets on airplanes, safety life preservers, bike tires? car tires?
- When you think about your project right now, what is the one most interesting thing? The thing that you donāt want to get lost in all of the other elements.
i think i had a big block in regards for party balloons and its dependencies on helium. i know you can put regular air in balloons, but most pictures/movies or references to a party balloon, at least i imagine it (a balloon) floating
which needs helium
- and there was a helium shortage
- and helium needs to be mined
- and mining for helium is actually dangerous
- and helium is actually needed for medical devices / hospitals
until sunday, i didnāt realize i never researched it further, and actually the helium used for party balloons are actually recycled helium from medical helium first, and then repurposed for helium tanks for party balloons.. so now i feel a LOT less guilty (because party balloons are so fun!!!)
- Project 01 (Whatās going on in your studio!)
i didnāt really make anything until yesterday on sunday.. only because my headspace was elsewhere because it was my birthday !!!!!! throwing my birthday party last friday was so fun.. and needed!!! i am actually a big planner (in high school i put on small town events, and in college i was a social chair of a student org, and before moving to new york, i organized a trip to coachella (???) with random coworkers (well not random but i didnāt really know them beyond a few months) but i actually havenāt thrown any parties or really organized any events in awhile :-(
(like its been 3 years since i did a big birthday party, or a galentines party for myself)
ā i plan for others, havenāt had a janā¢ event for awhile
anyways i did consider party balloons but got overwhelmed on thinking how to transport balloons, because being a pedestrian with balloons, is not for the faint of heart
anyways for my birthday i celebrated with (private) karaoke with a whole bunch of guavas in ktown!!!! <3 and it was so fun !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (big credit to rachel a. guava, for photographing)
